寒い表通りの路地を鳩の一群が歩いている。
ふっくらとまんまるになった冬の身体で、とことこ歩くその姿が愛らしい。
歩道から車道への一段低いところへ、細い両足を揃えて懸命にジャンプする姿。
よいしょっ、という声が聞こえてくる。
僕はこっちをつつくから、君はそっちをつついてて。
歩いては地面をつつき、何かを探している。
お腹を空かせてうろついているのか。
何食べてるんですか？
かと思うとあっという間に遥か彼方へ飛んで行ってしまった。
何の合図も無く、突然何かに呼ばれたようにいきなり空の高みへと飛翔していく。
何という力だ。
丸い胴体ににちょこんと頭がついて、いつも首を振って歩いている可愛らしさ、可笑しさ。
頼りない細い足で身体を支えてポクポク歩くその姿からは、想像できないほど、
大空に素晴らしく跳躍し、羽ばたいていく姿は、真剣でカッコよく逞しい。
鳩も冬一番の寒さの中で、懸命に生きている。
昔から人間に寄り添う平和の鳥。
街の中でさりげなく出会い続け、
鳩はいつも心に癒しを与えてくれる。
